On Wednesday 4th May, the team at Antobot were lucky to be visited by world-renowned robotics scientists Professor Zhang and Professor Meng at our Chelmsford Headquarters as part of our collaboration between researchers at the forefront of innovation and the industry partners that can bring their research into reality.
Professor Jianwei Zhang is Director of Technical Aspects of Multimodal Systems at the Universität Hamburg. He is Academician of the National Academy of Engineering Sciences (acatech) in Germany. Prof Zhang has published over 500 journal and conference papers and more than 50 patents in the field of Robotics and AI.
Professor Qinggang Meng is Professor of Robotics and Artifical Intelligence at Loughborough University. He has carried out research in a broad range of theoretical and real applications including robotics, driverless vehicles, networked systems, ambient assisted living, computer vision, AI and pattern recognition, as well as machine learning and deep learning.
During the professors’ visit, the team presented our robot brain, the universal Robot Control Unit (uRCU®), both Gen 2 and the coming Gen 3. The professors were also given the chance to be the very first to see one of our brand-new commercial-ready robots that are starting field trials at our partner farms this week.
Both professors shared with the team their cutting-edge research work in their fields. From innovative soft end effectors to robotics for elderly care, there are endless and fascinating robotics applications to help make life easier, safer, more enjoyable, and more sustainable! We are excited to see how AIoT enhanced robots can help us transform our societies to a better future.
Following the brilliantly informative day, both were excited about our products we are developing and what the future could hold for Antobot.
“Antobot has the best talents I have ever seen in an agri-robot company” – Prof Zhang summarised at the end of the visit
